Jay Murphy, Director of Campaign Development for Riverfront Broadcasting Black Hills, was honored as the 2025 Broadcaster of the Year by the South Dakota Broadcasters Association (SDBA) at their annual leadership conference in Sioux Falls.
The Award recognizes an individual broadcaster for the impact they’ve had on their community.
Murphy is a 40-year radio veteran and a 7-year sales manager. He is heavily involved in the Rapid City area with the Oglala Pet Project campaign, Small Business Saturday, St. Jude Radiothon, and the ‘Bears for the Brave’ teddy bear drive. The teddy bear drive brought in over 1,600 stuffed animals and blankets that were distributed to area first responders, which are then used to help calm a child in times of emergency. His vision has also been the driving force behind events like the Black Hills’ largest summer gathering ‘Bike Nights’.
Steve Willard, SDBA’s President said, “Jay’s amazing. He’s received recognition in the past for his commercials and ad campaigns. It’s fitting that he’s getting recognition for his contribution to the Rapid community. He loves the Hills.”
