Robson Receives 2025 SDBA Distinguished Service Award

Jan Robson, formerly of KXLG in Watertown, was awarded the 2025 South Dakota Broadcasters Association Distinguished Service Award at their annual state leadership conference in Sioux Falls.

The SDBA Distinguished Service Award recognizes an individual whose life’s work has enriched the broadcasting industry, inspired its commercial advertisers, or who has nurtured their community. It is given to special employees, customers, or advocates who often work without recognition.

Robson started her broadcast career in Huron, SD at KOKK after graduating from the Brown Institute in 1979. She moved to KMSD in Milbank, then to KWAT & KIXX in Watertown. She joined KXLG in 2009 as one of the station’s first hires.

During Robson’s 40-year broadcast career, she’s held many positions and worn many hats. While it seems like she’s always been on-air, she’s has worked in the front office, been a news director, and a program director. She is always there to help – ringing the bell for the Salvation Army, Christmas caroling to area assisted living centers, as well as dedicated countless hours to promote multiple charities and their mission on air.

Robson retired from KXLG 2025 in August to spend more time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.
