On The Air ALL ARTICLES JACK CAUDILL RECIPIENT OF THE "2007 TOM BROKAW AWARD" JULY 27, 2007 Jack Caudill, News Director of KEVN-TV in Rapid City, SD was honored as the recipient of the “2007 Tom Brokaw Award” by the South Dakota Broadcasters Association (SDBA) at their annual state executive conference held July 19 & 20 at the ClubHouse Hotel & Suites in Sioux Falls, SD The Tom Brokaw Award is presented annually in a cooperative effort between the SDBA and the Department of Contemporary Media and Journalism at the University of South Dakota (USD). The first recipient of the award was former news anchor Tom Brokaw in 1981. The award is given in recognition of excellence in broadcasting especially in the areas of electronic journalism (on or off-air involvements) and public affairs to an individual who is a native of South Dakota, educated in South Dakota, or has made a significant contribution to South Dakota broadcasting. In addition to receiving a plaque of recognition, this honor is also commemorated by adding the recipient’s name to a plaque on permanent display in the Al Neuharth Media Center at USD. Caudill started broadcasting as the weekend sports anchor at KEVN in December 1983, later served as the sports director, making the Sports Challenge famous, and is now the news director, weekday anchor and reporter. He is also the host of Focus, a show that gives an in-depth look at local issues and events. The SD Broadcasters Association is proud to present the 2007 Tom Brokaw Award to Jack Caudill. The SD Broadcasters Association is a trade association that represents South Dakota’s radio and television stations. It provides education, regulatory assistance and legislative representation to its members. |
