NEIL LIPETZKY NAMED "2009 BROADCASTER OF THE YEAR"
OCTOBER 10, 2009

Neil Lipetzky, General Manager of Dakota Broadcasting in Aberdeen, SD, was honored as the “2009 Broadcaster of the Year” by the South Dakota Broadcasters Association (SDBA) at their Annual State Leadership Conference held October 9 & 10, 2009 at the K Bar S Lodge in Keystone, SD.

The “Broadcaster of the Year” Award is presented each year to honor a person in broadcasting who has been especially active during the past year in community affairs.

Dakota Broadcasting is operated by Neil (General Manager) and his wife, Terri (Traffic Manager). KMOM (known as ‘Dakota 105-point-5’) and 107.7 KABD-FM (known as ‘Aberdeen’s Best’) went on the air December 2007. Today, Dakota Broadcasting employees ten full-time and three part time employees. Dakota Broadcasting won the ABBY Award for Outstanding Community Involvement in its very first year of operation.

Neil has been involved in many community activities this past year including: Aberdeen Downtown Association – Pig Out committee and Sizzlin Summer Nights committee; United Way – Board Member; Salvation Army – Board Member; Relay for Life Committee; Amercian Cancer Society; Junior Achievement - Board Member; Aberdeen Chamber – Abby Award.

Neil started his radio career in 1983 at KXRB-KIOV Radio in Sioux Falls. After 8 years, he accepted a position with Sorenson Broadcasting in Yankton as Sales Manager. He was then promoted to General Manager and transferred to Norfolk, NE to manage KNEN in Norfolk and KTCH AM & FM in Wayne, NE. In January 2007, he partnered with Dean Sorenson and Duane Butt to purchase the CP license for KMOM-FM and KABD-FM in Aberdeen, SD. Neil has been in Radio for 26 years.

Neil has been married for 27 years to Terri. They have 3 children - one son, Scott, who is currently in the Navy, two daughters, Amie and Lisa. Amie is married with a son, Dylan, and currently going to college at Wayne State. Lisa is currently attending college at UNL in Lincoln, NE.

The SD Broadcasters Association is proud to present the 2009 Broadcaster of the Year Award to Neil Lipetzky. The SD Broadcasters Association is a trade association that represents South Dakota’s radio and television stations. It provides education, regulatory assistance and legislative representation to its members.
